Encaustic Abstract Art, Mixed Media, Contemporary Painting, “Winter’s Edge” by Texas Contemporary Artist Sharon Whisnand

An encaustic painting made with layers of 200 degree wax, hand painted papers embedded in the layers and gold leaf sprinkled across the top. Encaustic paintings are made by layering colors of pigmented encaustic medium. Each layer must be fused to the other with either a heat gun or propane torch.
This layering allows the viewer to see down deep into the painting.
