This piece is based on a poem written by Denver, CO artist, Wayne A. Gilbert titled, Waiting for Li Po.  The colors are representative of the Tang Dynasty, the period when Chinese poet, Li Po actually lived.  Using the richness of different colors of gold, green, and red, the encaustic (bees wax with damar resin crystals and pigment) compliments each other and brings out the subtleties within them.
